Reading Specialist Credential 12 courses (48 units)

The Reading Specialist Credential is a K-12 California Teaching Credential specifically focusing on literacy instruction, assessment and leadership in the area of reading and language arts. The courses provide our candidates with a variety of teaching and learning experiences involving early and emergent learners, adolescents, families and other teachers. Our graduates are well prepared to take on the role of a literacy leader at a school site or at the district office level.

Application Process:


Step One: Admission to the University and to the program - apply online at CSUMentor


Step Two: Complete a Program Plan Form during your final quarter of the program


Step Three: Apply through Student Services for your Reading Specialist Credential


Important notes: Transcripts from all colleges you have attended are needed for the application process; you must hold a current California Single or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential to be admitted to the program, and you must have 3 years of full time verified teaching experience to apply for the credential.
