Doctor of Education Degree

CSUSB Palm Desert Campus offers classes towards an educational doctorate degree. The Ed.D. degree in educational leadership prepares students to be reflective practitioners who will enhance their knowledge, skills and dispositions as leaders in the schools.

It is a wonderful opportunity to study, do research and enhance professional practices in preparation for advanced school or district leadership positions.

Completion of the Ed.D. degree requires 94 quarter units. Most students can complete the program in three years. Students generally take two courses every quarter (including two or more courses each summer). In the third year, students focus on completing the dissertation.

The mission of the educational doctorate program is to prepare educational leaders with an advanced, broad and in-depth knowledge base, advanced skills to effectively build and sustain meaningful and purposeful relationships with constituents, and well-informed and broad-based dispositions needed to effectuate reform efforts that result in improved student achievement.

The educational doctorate program prepares candidates who can effectuate positive and sustaining school reform and increase student achievement. Recognizing the growth and diversity in school systems and community colleges today, the Ed.D. program at CSUSB teaches candidates to be outstanding educational leaders in rural, urban and suburban school and community college settings and prepares candidates to make sound decisions within the broader context of equity and social justice.

California State University, San Bernardino is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The College of Education is also accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. The Ed.D. in educational leadership at CSUSB is also accredited by WASC.
