Designated Subjects, Career and Technical

CSUSB and the Palm Desert Campus offer a number of programs in conjunction with the California Department of Education and CCTC emphasis on STEM - CTE (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math - Career Technical Education) teacher education.

Designated Subjects Teaching Credentials

We offer all of the courses needed to meet new course work requirements specified by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher Credential. These same courses will also meet previous Level 1 and Level 2 requirements for Vocational and Adult Designated Subjects Teaching Credentials.

These courses are also offered in accordance with incentives provided by the State of California which encourage people with a wide range of career and technicals skills to become teachers. As an additional incentive for those seeking a second career in teaching, tuition may be waived for California residents over the age of 60.

Admission Requirements:

1. The minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent

2. A basic working knowledge of desktop computers

3. At least three years of work or professional experience in the subject to be taught or for academic subjects at least 20 hours of graduate or undergraduate credits from an accredited institution in the subjects to be taught.
